Investigation for slain broadcaster continues By: Khyrus Santos Police authorities are still investigating the circumstances behind the grisly murder of broadcaster Juan Jumalon on the 5th of November, 2023. Juan Jumalon, also known as DJ Johnny Walker, was shot in the early hours of the morning at his residence where his recording booth was located in Misamis Occidental. The shooting was broadcasted live to many viewers. As of recent, authorities are investigating a possible lead that may uncover the suspects and motives behind the case. President Marcos himself asked that justice be served to those who committed this "heinous crime." Despite the Philippines being known as one of the more dangerous places to practice journalism or broadcasting, the motive behind the murder may not be to silence him but rather something more on the personal affairs of the late broadcaster. According to the head of investigations on the case Misamis Occidental police director Col. Dwight Monat...

Undas: The Ever-Changing Problem 'til Death By: Athena Morales, Khyrus Santos Undas opens jobs for filipino families. Photo by: Dan Madrazo, Juan News Every year, Filipino families are busy preparing for Undas. This has become a Filipino tradition: buying flowers, lighting candles and a mini family reunion as some would call it. In some cemeteries around the municipalities of Bulacan, people are starting to visit the tombs of their loved ones. For some, they live for the dead and their deaths give them jobs. Rey, a 62 year-old cleaner in Sta. Maria Cemetery for almost 30 years, said that this work allows him to provide for his family. People like Rey depend on the death of people, as the more the deaths, the more food for his family. But just like any other, it is not always festive as in some days he can only bring home a kilo of rice, some instant noodles, and corn beef. "Utang pa nga 'yan (pagpapalinis). Binibigyan lang ako isa-isang daan pang meryenda, tinitipid na lan...
